Whey Protien Powder Recipes

At boot camp several clients have been asking what is a good protein powder and where they can get it, so I thought share my favorite Whey Protein powder. These have no artificial sweeteners or fillers, which are one of the reasons I prefer these over many mainstream powders like EAS or Met-RX.

My favorite is Prograde, It has 24g of protein per serving, keeps you full longer, and mixes great and is sweetened with Stevia. Click the link above for more on Prograde protein powder.

You can also find others great brands of protein powder at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods. Make sure it isn’t sweetened with aspartame, sucralose, or acesulfame K.

Protein powder can taste great on it’s own anytime of the day. However, if your taste buds want something with a little more flavor try the recipes below. The added carbs from fruits are best utilized by your body for post-workout recovery, so save these for after your workout.

Banana Kiwi Smoothie

1/2 scoop Vanilla whey protein
1/2 cup greek yogurt
1/2 cup water
1 banana
1 kiwi
5 ice cubes

Island Smoothie
1 scoop Vanilla Whey protein powder
1.5 cup water
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup pineapple chunks
5 frozen strawberries
1 teaspoon pure cocoa powder

Blueberry Smoothie
1 scoop Whey protein
1/2 cup greek yogurt
1 cup frozen blueberries
pinch of stevia (optional)
1 cup water
5 ice cubes

I like to add 1-2 cups of greens like fresh or frozen spinach or kale to any of these for added veggies and it barely alters the flavor and adds very few additional calories.
